Hanson UK is a leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry.

Description of Team/Department

Reporting to the Works Manager at Port Talbot Regen Plant the production manager will manage the shift teams covering the 24/7 plant process.

Regen, Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag, is a cement substitute, manufactured from a by-product of the iron-making industry. Using one tonne of Regen in concrete reduces the embodied CO2 by around 900kg.

Purpose of/Responsibilities of the role

To be part of the Port Talbot management team with responsibility for managing the shift personnel and plant, to ensure production operations meet customer expectations and service commitments through product quality and product availability.

The Production Manager will interface with both electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines, ensuring preventative, corrective and planned maintenance plans are implemented and delivered.

To manage the shift teams and ensure monitoring, measurement and control of the operational factors which contribute to efficient production to achieve KPI and OPEX targets.

To not only meet environmental and safety standards but to champion a strong health & safety culture with direct and indirect reports

Skills/Experience

  • High level of education: preferably an university degree in process control, engineering, or a related subject
  • Operational Knowledge of production plants & strong process knowledge.
  • Preventative maintenance and techniques and practices experience.
  • Strong Management, planning, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and experience of developing team-working
  • Effective delegator with the ability to enthuse and motivate people.
  • Coaching and developing people skills.
  • Ability to manage risks and prioritise workload.
