Hanson UK is a leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry.

Description of Team/Department

As the EHS Graduate you will report directly to the Sustainability Director and actively support the business to drive our global EHS program. As such, you will work with the sustainability team members to assist in projects and day-to-day activities of the department.

Purpose of/Responsibilities of the role

  • Work with EHS Managers to implement and monitor the health, safety & environmental management systems.
  • Perform on site audits to ensure conformance to the company IMS procedures standards. 
  • Assist with developing EHS business line improvement plans that comply with Company policies and procedures. 
  • Involved in organising and conducting EHS related activities, training, and preventive programs to create awareness among employees.
  • Work with colleagues in the sustainability/carbon and energy team to support the delivery of carbon projects; which include progress reporting, data analysis, energy and carbon reduction, carbon models; and developing relationships with clients and industry sectors. 

Skills/Experience

  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematic (STEM) or environmental/earth science discipline. 
  • A strong understanding of climate change and general sustainability processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate and engage with a variety of different people e.g. clients, colleagues, stakeholders
  • Strong work ethic and team working capabilities
  • Strong organisational and numerical skills
  • Full UK driving licence for UK travel
