Hanson UK

Hanson UK is a leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry.

Description of Team/Department

Under the direction of the Property Development Manager (“PDM”), to assist the regional Land & Mineral Resources Departments (“LMRD's”) in managing Hanson UK's diverse portfolio of greenfield, mothballed and closed properties in accordance with the principles of good estates management practices and with particular focus on preparing surplus land for divestment.

Purpose of/Responsibilities of the role

  • To assist in the management of an identified portfolio of property interests (“the Portfolio”); liaising as necessary with the regional LMRDs, other Hanson staff, landlords, tenants, HUK's letting agents, regulators and stakeholders over a broad range of estates management issues.
  • To become conversant with all relevant planning permissions, lease terms, title restrictions and other encumbrances associated with the Portfolio sites; advising on compliance and taking action as directed by the PDM.
  • To submit and thereafter diligently pursue planning applications, variations to existing approvals, schemes of conditions and other planning matters required in respect of the Portfolio sites.
  • To liaise with Hanson's lettings agent in respect of 3rd party tenancy matters, including lease renewals, rent reviews, rent collection and other issues affecting the Portfolio sites.
  • Under the direction of the PDM, to assist in preparing Portfolio sites for divestment at best value, whilst minimising the risk of post-completion liabilities and having regard for Hanson's reputation as a responsible mineral operator and land owner.

Skills/Experience

  • RICS accredited graduate or post-graduate degree chartered surveyor in land management, rural land/estates management, environmental management/studies, minerals estates management, land economics or similar. 2;1
  • Full UK driving licence for UK travel
