At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organisation.
CS4OD is a new dedicated activity to identify, select, support, and guide high-impact international projects where CERN expertise and tools would provide maximum results. A dedicated team of data scientists and data engineers, supervised by CERN experts in the IT Department will support and guide researchers from selected initiatives, helping them to become proficient with the CERN tools and sound data science principles, automate the operations and implement efficient data architectures and analysis pipelines, respecting principles of data governance, and compliance with existing laws and norms.
As computer scientist in CS4OD you will work with the selected projects to implement the required software tools functionality and extend the CERN systems based on new agreed requirements. Specifically you will help prepare and expose data in Zenodo according to FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reproducibility), and work with the Zenodo team to enhance Zenodo capabilities to demonstrate FAIR compliance and expose reusable research artefacts. You will also enhance Zenodo capabilities to facilitate and automate data stewardship and data curation activities of supported projects.
Accelerate your career at CERN and take part in today’s biggest scientific breakthroughs!
