At Capital One, we’re building a leading information-based technology company. Still founder-led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Fairbank, Capital One is on a mission to help our customers succeed by bringing ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity to banking. We measure our efforts by the success our customers enjoy and the advocacy they exhibit. We are succeeding because they are succeeding.
Guided by our shared values, we thrive in an environment where collaboration and openness are valued. We believe that innovation is powered by perspective and that teamwork and respect for each other lead to superior results. We elevate each other and obsess about doing the right thing. Our associates serve with humility and a deep respect for their responsibility in helping our customers achieve their goals and realise their dreams. Together, we are on a quest to change banking for good.
On this programme, you’ll help us tell a story with our numbers. How can we understand our customers better? Where are our risks? How are our marketing campaigns doing?
The answers are in the data. If you can find them and explain them, you’ll be at the heart of our business. Creative problem-solving is the key to data science. Here, you’ll:
We’ll need to be able to see that you can sort through huge bodies of data and statistics – and clearly explain what you find. So you’ll need a Masters or PhD in something analytical. You’ll need to know your programming languages too, ideally R or Python.
We’re not fans of ‘business as usual’. We’re always coming up with new ideas and finding new ways to improve. You’ll help us find those ways.
We got this recognition by practising what we preach. We make work life informal, flexible and simple, so our people can get creative. (Although the high starting salaries and other perks are probably factors too.)
Your starting salary will be £35,000 and all our graduates also get an extra £5,000 as a starting bonus. You’ll also get a range of perks, including private health and dental care, free on-site gyms and 25 days of paid holiday.
