If you think Capital One is simply a credit card provider, think again. In many ways, we're more of a technology business than a finance company. We pioneered the use of predictive modelling in this industry, and today we still look at credit the way tech companies look at everything – with a view to changing the way people live, making things simpler and easier for our customers.
As a result, you’ll find Capital One an inspiring place to launch your career. We’re an award-winning employer in part because we encourage freedom and creativity, as well as looking after our people.
Smart use of data is one of the secrets of our success. We process 87 million points of data every day. And our Data Analysts are skilled at extracting the signal from the noise – solving business problems using logical analysis and helping us to build accurate and efficient data solutions.
Your analysis will help customers manage their credit better, and ensure we offer the best experience, whether that’s through our call centres or on our online channels. We’ll be relying on the accurate data you provide to help us make the right business decisions on everything from our product and pricing strategies through to our marketing plans.
You’ll learn how to extract and mine data to solve business problems using a variety of systems and coding languages, such as SQL and Python. You’ll analyse the data supplied by our technology experts and use intelligent modelling to distil into information to show our strategists exactly where the opportunities and problem areas are as well as predicting our future performance.
You’ll need a real passion for data and analytics combined with a natural curiosity. You’re likely to already know your way around programming languages – if not, you’ll be keen to learn. As well as this, you’ll have the ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms – we’ll help you develop the skills you need to present with confidence. Most importantly, you’ll have a drive to improve – both in terms of your personal development and the way we work.
