Technology Graduate Programme

My ambition was always to make games, so I studied Graphics and Art at GCSE and then Computing at A-level. I realised I could always make games in my spare time, but there were more interesting things I wanted to explore – like AR and VR. Capital One is always supportive if you have ideas you want to pursue.

I came across the company during a Hackathon when they were there to show us what they do and how they do it. The people were so nice and friendly and that was something that stuck with me. And it definitely influenced why I decided to apply. I’d come across other companies where I got the impression I’d be just another cog in the machine.

As well as that, I wanted to be challenged. At the moment, I’m a Quality Engineer. It wasn’t what I set out to be, but it’s fun! I get to code on a daily basis. One of the highlights for me so far has been the last 10 weeks when I was responsible for managing a team of interns. They were brilliant. I actually wanted them to make mistakes as I think that’s one of the best ways to learn. The interns all want to come back which makes me feel so proud.

I had thought of Capital One as a faceless credit card company. But now I work here – and having met the people behind the goal to make finance all about the customer – you realise how much everyone cares about what they’re doing.
