Looking to create positive change?

If you think Capital One is just a credit card provider, think again. In many ways, we're as much a technology business as a finance company. We pioneered the use of predictive modelling in this industry, and today we still look at credit the way tech companies look at everything – with a view to changing the way people live.

What does belonging mean at Capital One?

Diversity is more than ethnicities, genders, disabilities… it’s about recognising that everyone has a unique perspective.

It all makes this an inspiring place to undertake an internship. You’ll take on real projects with support from a buddy on your team and a programme mentor – you’ll get to meet our CEO too. You could even jump the queue when it comes to landing a place on our graduate programme.

We love to create incredible code. And we care just as much about the people behind the code. So get ready to be yourself and let your ideas fly.

We’re committed to creating a level playing field and seek to create teams that are representative of our customers and the communities we serve.  We’d love to hear from you if you identify with a typically under-represented group in our industry and are particularly keen to hear from women and ethnic minority candidates.

We’re inspiring because we’re inclusive. A gamechanger because we never stop pushing ourselves. Great because of you.

Software Engineers at Capital One

Our Software Engineers create the solutions that define the way we work and what we do – the tech they create helps us to find the right credit for every customer. For you, it means the chance to hone your skills in everything from APIs to mobile, big data to cyber security. Basically, this is a 10-week masterclass in software engineering.

What you’ll need

You don’t need to be on a Computer Science degree course, but you’ll need to be able to code in any language and you must be in your penultimate year of university. We don’t expect you to be an accomplished developer – just enthusiastic and a quick learner.

Where and how you'll work

This is a 10-week summer internship position based in either our London or Nottingham offices.  We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration.

Our core in-the-office days are Tuesday to Thursday, but they aren't mandatory - you’ll be led by your team, the type of work you do and of course your preferences. Many of our team have flexible working patterns so we’re open to discuss flexible working arrangements with you.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.

(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
