Heathrow Engineering Future Leaders Programme

Build your career in an organisation that matters to millions. Work alongside experienced engineers in a city within a city. Develop the leadership, commercial and project management skills you need to become an Engineering Future Leader at Heathrow.

Our engineering teams maintain and develop £14bn of engineering assets, encompassing rail, roads, tunnels, bridges and a private water system, not to mention the UK’s largest free-standing structure: Terminal 5. Join us, on our two-year immersive programme, and you’ll work at the heart of these teams, building your technical competency across a range of key engineering disciplines, including building services, electronics, and electrical and mechanical engineering.

Heathrow brings people closer. Wonderers, keep wondering.

For over 70 years, Heathrow has been bringing people closer to each other. This summer, we celebrate people's desire to discover with our 'Wonderers' film, capturing those unique and special moments of closeness within Heathrow.

Progressing through a comprehensive training plan, you’ll gain exposure to state-of-the-art technology and will have opportunities to work in everything from our terminal, airside and landside operations to water management and power generation – and potentially even our rail infrastructure and unique automated transport ‘pods’. We’ll also support you to reach Chartered Engineer status and will help you build relationships with colleagues across the organisation, from the frontline to the boardroom.

What you’ll need

We are looking for people who have a real passion for engineering and a 2:2 degree or above in an engineering discipline (ideally electronic, electrical, mechanical or civil engineering). We have over 400 companies based here, so you need to be able to work with all kinds of people and build positive relationships everywhere you go. You will also need to be someone who thrives on the buzz of a busy airport and who is committed to making the passenger experience as good as it can be.

Supporting you for success

Throughout the programme, you will enjoy the support of a senior sponsor from our executive team. They will be there to help you build your networks, provide career guidance, challenge your thinking and unlock opportunities. You will also meet regularly with a dedicated mentor who can answer any questions you may have about the organisation and help you find solutions to any challenges you face. Plus, you’ll have a ‘buddy’ to show you the ropes until you find your feet.

Ready to learn about different areas of our business? Looking to develop not just your technical engineering skills but your ability to lead people as well? Want to get your hands on a competitive salary package as well as great development opportunities, bonus and recognition schemes and a wide range of benefits and rewards?
