As the GRAHAM business continues to grow and develop, we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Site Manager for our Building business. The successful candidate will work on projects providing support to our existing Site Management Team. The role of the Graduate Site Manager includes all site activities, encompassing subcontractors, quality, health, safety & environment, programmes, commercial and client liaison.

Job Description:

As a Graduate Site Manager, you will be working under one of our experienced Site Managers to assist in overseeing different aspects of our projects while developing your own understanding. The suitable candidate will have a construction related degree and will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and be able to work as part of a team. You will also deputise for the Site Manager when required.

The Graduate Site Manager roles and responsibilities include:

  • Implementation and compliance of GRAHAM way of working
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are achieved
  • Ensure the Quality Management System is implemented for all the component parts of construction
  • The execution of work on site
  • Management of subcontract works
  • Record quality on key packages
  • Production planning and progress monitoring
  • Recording as built information including start and finish dates of work packages and activities
  • Chair and minute Work Package / Subcontractor progress meetings
  • Attend progress, technical and design meetings as requested by the Project Manager
  • Manage labour and plant requirements for construction
  • Problem solving
  • Communications with design team in respect to construction matters
  • Keep thorough records and maintain the site diary
  • Maintenance of good industrial relations
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with the specification.
  • Work to the Graham IMS.
  • Take part in and deliver a Safety Culture with the entire site team
  • Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for Graduate Site Manager and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Technical Competencies

Essential

  • Studied Construction Management or similar to degree level at university or technical college
  • Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills

Desirable

  • Health & Safety Induction Including Management System CSR/SAFEPASS/CSCS Card
  • Previous site experience

  • Commercial Awareness: relevant to the position applied for and understanding of why commercial awareness and business acumen are related and how these combine to meet customer needs and GRAHAM business requirements.
  • Leadership skills: Communicates well and shows commitment to work as part of a fully integrated team.
  • Effective Communication skills: Able to adapt communication to audience and create detailed written documents and reports under supervision. Able to maintain and manage communication links with a variety of stakeholders. Presents a professional image and promotes the Brand.
  • Customer Focus: Takes time to question and understand why customer needs are important and wants to forge ongoing sustainable links with customers to act in theirs and the businesses long term interest.
  • Influencing: Identifies and builds relationships with those who will be useful now and in the future in achieving strategic business objectives.
