Mechanical Engineering Graduate

Marine, Aeronautical, Mechanical.

Who we are:

Frazer-Nash are a leading engineering, systems and technology consultancy. Through our meaningful innovations, our experts help organisations make lives safe, secure, sustainable and affordable.

In a nutshell, engineering consultancy is all about providing advice to positively impact our clients’ projects and businesses and the wider world around us.

Why Frazer-Nash?

As a graduate at Frazer-Nash, you'll enjoy the opportunities and diverse work of a globally recognised company with 1400+ employees, combined with a professional development plan tailored to your goals. Supported by your line manager, team, and a specially assigned mentor, you'll work towards professional qualifications, including chartership.

The next stepping stone
"I've just had to say I'd like to do it, and they've made it happen" – Philippa, Consultant at Frazer-Nash.

Community and culture are also very important to us, and you'll be surrounded by a collaborative engineering community to support you deliver, learn and excel. This community will include your fellow graduate peers and those in the first few years of their careers through to internationally recognised experts with many decades of experience.

Beyond technical projects, you'll have the opportunity to develop new tools and techniques, build client relationships, contribute to commercial proposals and even share your work at international conferences.

In this role, you’ll be part of one of our Asset Integrity teams. You'll work across the project lifecycle, from understanding novel concepts and assuring new projects through the safe ongoing operation of equipment, to life extension, and, ultimately, decommissioning at end-of-life. At any one time, you will be working across multiple industrial projects, these projects could cover renewable energy generation, fusion energy technologies, Royal Navy ships, and future transport solutions.

Using your knowledge of materials, structural mechanics and dynamics, you'll solve our clients' problems through applying state-of-the-art Finite Element analysis techniques and bespoke analytical methods, developing measurement systems to gain valuable information on real-world operations, and using data science and machine learning techniques.

From day one, you’ll take ownership of your own work whilst working as part of a client-facing project delivery team. With time, you will start to manage your own projects, progressing to managing larger, complex projects and with time working towards our most senior project governance roles. There will also be the opportunity to work on-site with clients, locally within the UK or perhaps even abroad.

We’re looking for people who can become:

As a consultancy organisation, we are looking for highly motivated, innovative, organised and inquisitive people, who would like to solve complex problems.

  • A problem solver: with the ability to critically question what you see, to solve problems that build on your technical understanding, and show initiative for your ideas and work.
  • A communicator: with the ability to communicate with internal and external project stakeholders through various media (e.g. reports, presentations and meetings) to deliver advice on budget and on time.
  • A collaborator: with the ability to work with supervision and with others with different technical backgrounds.
  • A self-starter: with the ability to take responsibility of the tasks ahead of you and deliver them to the client, project or team.

You'll also need to be on course to obtain a BEng, MEng, MSc or PhD degree qualification with grade 2:1 or above in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and will be required to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
