I found my summer internship with Frazer-Nash Consultancy to be a brilliant learning experience, allowing me a great insight into working life. Straight away, I felt like an equal member of the teams I was involved in.
My advice would be to consider all options when applying for placements, including companies and roles which you would not necessarily consider at first! Smaller companies can provide a much more personal experience and support you and your personal development. I cannot fault the experience and support I have received from everyone at Frazer-Nash.
The greatest challenge for me has been applying all the background skills and knowledge I have learnt at University to actual client-based projects. Prior to this experience I had never worked within engineering, with the pandemic massively limiting industrial opportunities, so it was initially quite a daunting prospect to convert my skills stated in my CV and interview into actual project work. I have learnt to trust in my abilities and be confident that I’m perfectly capable of all tasks thrown my way.
