As a Placement Engineer (Problem Solver/Freethinker), you will have the opportunity to join one of several teams that each have a requirement for a particular skillset, however all deliver their own unique offerings. What you’ll be doing at Frazer-Nash?

Frazer-Nash offers excellent opportunities for engineering / science graduates and post-graduates to experience challenging and interesting work that will make a real difference in the world. You will use your skills and talents working across a diverse range of multi-disciplinary projects and industries, helping us deliver a safe and secure world against a backdrop of rapidly evolving technology, where natural resources are conserved, and clean energy is available to all.

Below are just a few recent examples of projects that we have been working on, to give you a flavour of the type of work you will have the opportunity to get involved in:

  • Helping the Ministry of Defence understand the safety implications of operating submarines in the extreme weather conditions in arctic waters;
  • Providing safety and environmental assurance for marine systems;
  • Determining the suitability of design changes to improve system performance and safety for operators and maintainers;
  • Supporting the safe introduction and operation of military aircraft in service
  • Providing a structured approach to control safety, environmental, information, security & cyber risks for our clients

As a Placement Engineer (Problem Solver / Freethinker), it will be your role to bring a fresh, creative perspective to our work, and we will value your contribution in helping us think differently to overcome complex engineering challenges, so that we can deliver the best solutions for our clients. A consultancy environment represents a unique offering as a Graduate and will give you the chance to rapidly accumulate a vast breadth and depth of valuable experience.

Unlike other Placement roles, at Frazer-Nash we think it is important that you gain exposure to the full project lifecycle and all aspects of our business. To this effect, as part of helping you develop your technical and consultancy skills, you will be given the opportunity to develop proposals, bid for work, produce technical work as part of a project team and develop Project Management skills. We will also help you to expand your network and establish strong working relationships by giving you the opportunity to collaborate with people from across our organisation, as well as liaising directly with our clients.

What you’ll need?

We are interested in hearing from ambitious graduate engineers / scientists who share our vision. You should have a genuine enthusiasm for engineering, be able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving, willingly take on challenges and not be afraid to think differently or challenge the status quo.

You should have an excellent academic record and working towards one of the below relevant subject degrees. Whilst not exclusive, the following are some of the degree courses that we have identified as of particular interest to us:

The nature of our work means that we sometimes require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all of our employees to gain appropriate security clearance. We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will decide if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application.
