We’re looking for the future leaders of our business.
Do you have the drive, ambition and ideas to take your career to the next level? If so, we want to hear from you.
A career at United Utilities is no ordinary job. You can expect real challenges and responsibility from day one.
By joining the graduate programme, you’ll be playing your part to bring three million households and 200,000 businesses, clean, clear water and to take it all away again. You’d be surprised to learn how much goes on behind the scenes and we’re committed to operating in a responsible way.
Like we say, it’s no ordinary job at United Utilities.
You could be working in the beautiful Lake District, with some big and exciting projects for you to get involved in which help provide life’s essentials to millions of customers right across the North West.
Peace and quiet not for you? Then can we tempt you with the city life?
If like us you’re mad on Manchester, or love Liverpool then you’ll fit right in.
Where else can you find world class footy teams, places where you can shop ‘til you drop, venues showcasing the big names from around the world, museums for you culture vultures and a decent night out?
You might enter our scheme as a graduate, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll be heading into your next role as a leader.
We have the dedicated training and support to help you develop and reach your potential.
From technical and specialist training, to mentoring and coaching – we have lots on offer to help you become the best leader you can be.
Managers, mentors and buddies will also be on hand to help you get to grips with your new role. You can expect regular reviews and twice-yearly appraisals to keep you on track.
They’re a friendly bunch and will show you the ropes – there’s quite a lot to get your head around.
If you’re selected for the scheme, our one piece of advice would be to get stuck in! Your placements will take you all over our business to understand how we work. There’s also the opportunity to attend internal courses and you’ll have the opportunity to attend industry events, helping you to further expand your knowledge of the water industry.
Once you’ve settled in, we’ll be strongly supporting you to achieve industry standard and professional qualifications related to your sector, including:
“UU stood out to me because it’s the only IChemE accredited graduate scheme in the water industry.”
James, assistant area engineering manager
The CEO challenge will be a highlight and a lasting memory of the graduate scheme.
“My favourite part of the graduate scheme so far would have to be the development in the technology I first picked up as part of the CEO challenge. During the challenge, I trialled a new piece of equipment. Since the trial, it’s become a live project, led by myself. Getting the equipment powered up and running to help solve a business need, which is saving UU money was a great feeling.” - Simon, graduate electrical engineer
This is your chance to get to know your fellow graduate, get out and about across the business and bring some innovative thinking to UU.
