As a trainee you will get:

  • Formal training sessions on software craftsmanship.
  • Opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • Support to transition from trainee to fully-fledged Developer and to help you in making the best of your career with us.
  • A buddy to give informal advice about the culture at IG and help you settle in.

You’ll have great opportunities to learn and expand your skill set, with the flexibility to develop using software tools of your choice on our high-spec hardware, including: Java 8, Spring Framework, Clojure, Tomcat RESTful services, C++, Oracle RAC, C++, Swift Android, HTML5, JavaScript, Scala, Python, Kafka, ActiveMQ, MongoDB, Oracle RDMS, OBIEE, Tableau, AWS and Hadoop Big Data.

Our Offices:

Come to work every day in a comfortable cutting-edge office containing all the things you need to succeed. Each of us works from a PC or Mac laptop, at agile, ergonomic workstations designed to support our role and our spacious, open-plan offices provide a modern, dynamic setting for you to excel.

  • Agile workspaces

Our business is global, and our work crosses departments, offices and time zones. Your work with us could take you to a selection of 15 offices in exciting cities around the world, with some positions offering regular business trips and secondments.

Passionate about applying?

You should have or be about to complete a degree, ideally in Computer Science or Engineering. However, we also consider other STEM subjects if you can demonstrate your programming knowledge.

You must be passionate about IT, possibly have some prior real-world experience and are keen to learn and apply new technologies in a dynamic business environment.

We want you to enjoy your time here and be proud to count the people you work with as friends. Our global social committees run events and activities to make life at IG even more fun and rewarding. We also offer monthly socials with free refreshments, large annual parties, employee-led LGBTQ+ and women’s networks, fund matching for your charitable endeavours, sports teams and sponsorship tie-ins and up to 5 additional days' leave a year for voluntary work.

As a valued employee, you’ll also benefit from performance-related bonuses, pension, insurance and medical plans, a flexible annual leave policy and career-focused technical and leadership training.

Our Process:

After submitting your application using our online tool we will be in touch if we would like you to complete an online coding test.

If you are successful, one of our experience programmers will contact you to arrange a phone interview to find out more about you, your studies and why you want to work at IG.

After this step, we will be in touch if we would like to invite you to one of our assessment days. These are based at our offices and are as much about you learning all you can about IG and the role as us assessing your fit. Please make the most of all your interactions with us to find out as much as you can about the company and the position available and reach out if you have any questions.
