Wood is recruiting a Graduate Civil Engineer to join the team in our Knutsford office.

Wood Environment & Infrastructure provides a wide range of environmental and engineering services to both the municipal and industrial markets; especially in utilities, water, wastewater and solid waste management/treatment.

As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team based in Knutsford. Working within multidisciplinary project design teams, you will contribute to the delivery of the civil engineering design content on a range of challenging projects across our market sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Based in our Knutsford office, you will work on a portfolio of different projects and will apply your newly acquired skills in a range of environments.

You will report to a Senior Civil Engineer and your role will develop as your knowledge of our business increases. Duties will include field investigations, preliminary analyses and studies, as well as the development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design calculations, reports and contract documents. The position will be technically involved in detailed design work, detailed checking of work completed by others, coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as resolution of design issues during construction.

Skills / Qualifications

  • You will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in civil / structural engineering, with membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Commitment to contribute to the professionalism of the engineering team.
  • Self-motivated and have an enthusiasm for personal achievement.
  • Keen to develop technical skills.
  • Capable of working as an individual and with multi-disciplinary teams, with strong communication skills.
  • You will be expected to be flexible, working from various Wood offices and taking advantage of site work.
  • You will have a full, clean driving license.

An aptitude towards following will be advantageous:

  • Problem solving.
  • Application of engineering principles.
  • Design development.
  • Computer aided design and modelling.
  • Report writing.
