Wood is currently recruiting for a Graduate Software Developer for our Subsea Engineering Software team based in the Galway office. Our dedicated engineering teams offer a wide range of engineering consultancy services to an international client base. We support clients across various sectors including subsea engineering and analysis services, operations support, drilling and wells design and analysis support, data analytics and marine terminals and export systems planning and design. Our capabilities include design and operational support, engineering and design analysis, technical advisory services and the development of bespoke software and visualisation tools and services.

Development and coding of numerical models for the simulation and analysis of a wide variety of subsea structures
Working as part of a team developing new and existing products within our range of offshore structural analysis software and custom software solutions
Assisting in the verification, validation and documentation of new software features and updates
Involvement in a global team delivering multi-disciplinary projects
Participation in an Agile/Scrum software development methodology
Assisting in the provision of a timely and comprehensive technical support service to clients that are using Wood Subsea Engineering Software (both internal Wood clients and external clients)
Skills / Qualifications
Degree in mechanical/civil/structural engineering, computer science, or equivalent Strong mathematical/numerical skills
General interest in writing source code and developing numerical algorithms
Ability to work autonomously when required, and to contribute to high-performing teams
Programming experience in high-level procedural languages (e.g. Fortran/F90 or C)
Programming experience in object-oriented languages (C++/C#, Python, etc.) would be a bonus
Background knowledge in any of the following areas would be helpful although not essential: marine/coastal engineering, structural analysis, hydrodynamic loading, finite element analysis or similar
Good written and verbal communication skills
