An Introduction to Custom Interconnect
Custom Interconnect Ltd is a leading electronics manufacturing organisation, housed within a modern facility, based in the south of the United Kingdom at Andover in Hampshire.
Purpose of the job
Review and establish build requirements of assigned Rapid Prototype projects and organise the assembly of prototype units.
Review and establish build and process requirements of assigned manufacturing research and/or improvement projects; either originating from within CIL or from external project partners.
Plan, execute, record and report on all project trials and experiments.
Primary roles & responsibilities
Rapid Prototype Projects: review build requirements for prototypes and establish best method of assembly for fast turnaround without compromising quality. Document prototype assembly process and where necessary, advise the customer of design changes required for volume manufacture – design for manufacture.
Improvement Projects: evaluate current manufacturing processes, design experiments or research programs to investigate process status and improve where possible. Apply knowledge of product design for manufacture, materials and their fabrication, known assembly methods and tooling, in order to reduce waste, improve throughput and efficiency and improve yields.
Research Projects: work with third party stakeholders on longer term research projects to trial, understand and implement new processes, improve current processes, assemble new types of devices, use of new materials and generally establish new knowledge and a better all-round understanding of microelectronics manufacturing capabilities. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars; review professional publications; research opportunities to incorporate new or improved processes and equipment; methods of monitoring, inspecting, measuring, testing completed product; investigate failures or returns to identify root cause and define and implement corrective and preventive actions.

What you'll need
A degree qualification in a relevant scientific discipline such as manufacturing/engineering, materials science, physics or chemistry.
A completed university module or other course on electrical/electronic engineering would be an advantage.
