About the role

Our industry-leading Life Sciences (Pharma) and Chemistry & Materials practice groups are offering successful candidates the opportunity to qualify as a UK and European patent attorney. The groups support some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical, chemical/consumer companies and research institutions to protect innovation in exciting, cutting edge technologies.

About you

We're looking for high calibre graduates who possess a strong first degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) or PhD in a relevant technical discipline such as chemistry, materials science, pharmaceutical chemistry or pharmacology. To train as a patent attorney, you must have a STEM degree in a relevant technical discipline. Please see the accepted degrees for our Life Sciences (Pharma) and Chemistry & Materials practices:

Your degree will be complemented by strong A Levels (typically 3 at grade A or equivalent).

In addition to your technical skills, you demonstrate a natural curiosity and inquisitiveness, with a flair for writing and a meticulous eye for detail. Having an excellent command of both written and spoken English, you enjoy analysing and conceptualising complex matters, with a passion and aptitude for problem solving.

Recruitment process

Our recruitment process is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your interest in a career within IP. If successful following the completion of our brief online application form and submission of your CV, you’ll be asked to complete a short pre-recorded video interview. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to attend a two-stage interview process, where you will meet a number of representatives from the firm.

Interviews are scheduled during September and December. We encourage early applications, and will keep you regularly informed during each stage of the process.
