Centrica is committed to being a working environment where an Incident Free Workplace (IFW) is possible. In short, we want to change the culture of how we work, to help our colleagues and customers benefit from our operations, without incident or harm. As an energy and services company, this remit will cover the full spectrum of activity from offshore gas production, through innovative distributed power solutions, and smart home technologies to providing excellent customer services to our domestic and business energy customers internationally.

This role supports the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Transformation Manager, the HSE Senior Leadership Team and all of Centrica’s business units internationally in helping make IFW achievable.

Degree subject and specialism are less important than a real interest and enthusiasm in helping us lead this important change to the way we do things.

Centrica - Who We Are

Our phones and tablets; our homes and businesses; the digital connections between people and places; the way economic growth is delivered. Energy makes 21st century life work. And every day, whether in the office or out on the road, our people make that happen.

Day to day, the role will:

  • Research and analyse records, feedback and statistics to provide persuasive evidence to groups, up to and including the Corporate Executive Committee and the Board, of how Centrica performs from a safety perspective.
  • Work with the HSE Transformation Manager to deliver budget, HR and performance data for the HSE function.
  • Work with individual business units to help deliver and improve targeted assistance that will help make IFW a reality in their areas. This will include helping to organise, co-ordinate and facilitate work delivered by our specialist consultant supporters to let business units develop plans, strategies and methods that allow them to work towards IFW.
  • Work with HR, communications and Learning and Development colleagues to help lead the building of a coherent and strong culture that will allow us to provide excellent customer and operational outputs, without harm to our colleagues, our customers and the environment.
  • Help co-ordinate the teams working up novel and targeted ways of tackling behavioural safety issues.

In return, you can expect;

  • A comprehensive induction to a high profile and high priority part of the business.
  • To develop an understanding of the diverse business units of a major energy and services company.
  • Credible experience in drafting and presenting evidence based options for change management to senior audiences.
  • A real sense of achievement in helping Centrica business units on their individual routes to being Incident Free Workplaces.

The role will be based in Windsor for much of the time, however, up to 10% will involve travelling to other businesses and our assets.

Applicants must be currently in tertiary education, which will continue after the placement year.
