What it’s like to work in this area

We want our customers to be inspired and we’re finding bigger and better ways to provide it, using technology to drive innovation and deliver our vision to become the world’s leading retailer. As a graduate product manager, you will be the voice of our customer from day one, solving customer problems, defining product roadmaps and building products that could affect millions of people across the world for years to come.

You’ll quickly discover the variety of products we build, and the scale at which we deliver, is immense. You could be redesigning the grocery home shopping website to improve customer satisfaction or making sure our 100,000 daily deliveries to customers arrive on time, with the right products available for our customers at the shelf.

Technology Product Graduate Programme

What you will be doing

Our Product Managers have broad responsibilities and every day may be different. From holding workshops with stakeholders, writing user stories, or getting feedback from customers and data analysis, you will prioritise development with evidence-based decisions to maximise value for our customers. You will be part of a cross-functional team of software engineers, designers and analysts and work closely with business stakeholders to ensure alignment to strategic goals.

What we are looking for

We want graduates who have a curious, creative mind and love solving problems. You will need a strong passion for technology, an analytical mind and must be comfortable translating product vision into detailed engineering requirements. Being a team player is key as you’ll be working with lots of colleagues across technology to bring your solutions to life. Great communication skills are essential in order to gain support for your ideas and understand the wider business context.

What the difference is between product and programme

A Product Manager will translate customer problems into pieces of development for a technology product, working closely with software engineers, whilst also looking at the bigger picture of the product roadmap, strategy and vision. A Technical Programme Manager will collaborate with all affected teams to create a plan, manage technical risks, issues and dependencies, communicate with all stakeholders and generally co-ordinate the technical aspects of a piece of work.

Your experience with us

We kick off our graduate programmes with an induction where you will learn more about our business and your programme plus it’s a great opportunity for you to meet your cohort. You will then be introduced to your team where you will get to know more about the area you will be working in.

Store experience

Within the first six months you will spend two weeks working in one of our stores which you will be able to select from our store list. You will find out more about this at your induction. The time you will spend in store will help you to learn how our stores operate, how they link to your role and help you to understand our customers.

Rotational placements

You will experience a range of rotational placements which will help to give you a breadth of knowledge about your area and our business. You will find out more about your placements during your induction.

Learning path

We encourage self-led development and we support this with a range of e-learning and face-to-face learning sessions. You will be able to use your own initiative to identify your own learning needs and choose the right training for you. You will also have the opportunity to learn from others to help you grow your skills.

Dates and deadlines

The programme starts on the 7th of September 2020.

Application deadline: We recruit on a rolling basis. This means that our roles will be filled on a first come first served approach, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
