About Tesco

Our vision at Tesco is to become every customer's favourite way to shop, whether they are at home or out on the move. Our core purpose is ‘Serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day’. Serving means more than a transactional relationship with our customers. It means acting as a responsible and sustainable business for all stakeholders, for the communities we are part of and for the planet.

Idowu - Technology Product Graduate

"The campus is really welcoming and refreshing it's kind of a place where you can feel comfortable being yourself."

We are proud to have an inclusive culture at Tesco where everyone truly feels able to be themselves. At Tesco, we not only celebrate diversity, but recognise the value and opportunity it brings. We're committed to creating a workplace where differences are valued, and make sure that all colleagues are given the same opportunities. We're a big business with diverse working patterns and many business areas which means that we can find something that works for you. Everyone is welcome at Tesco.

NOTE: Should you be successful in your application, your offer will be subject to and conditional upon you providing your bank account details, and evidence of right to work for the duration of the programme on your agreed start date.

We want our customers to be inspired and we’re finding bigger and better ways to provide it, using technology to drive innovation and deliver our vision to become the world’s leading retailer. You’ll be the voice of our customer from day one, solving customer problems, defining product roadmaps and building products that could affect millions of people across the world for years to come.

You’ll quickly discover that the variety of products we build, and the scale at which we deliver, is immense. You could be redesigning the grocery home shopping website to improve customer satisfaction or making sure our 125,000 daily deliveries to customers arrive on time, with the right products available for our customers on the shelf.

During your 10-week paid programme, you’ll have broad responsibilities and every day may be different. From holding workshops with stakeholders, writing user stories, or getting feedback from customers and data analysis, you’ll prioritise development with evidence-based decisions to maximise value for our customers. You will be part of a cross-functional team of software engineers, designers and analysts, and work closely with business partners to ensure alignment to strategic goals.

A successful internship with us can guarantee your place on our Technology Product graduate programme when you graduate - before you’ve even started your final year of study!

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for interns with a curious, creative mind, who love solving problems. You’ll need a strong passion for technology, an analytical mind and be comfortable translating product vision into detailed engineering requirements. Being a great teammate is key, as you’ll be working with lots of colleagues across technology to bring your solutions to life. Great communication skills are essential in order to gain support for your ideas and understand the wider business context.

What’s the difference between Product and Programme?

A Product Manager will translate customer problems into pieces of development for a technology product, working closely with software engineers, whilst also looking at the bigger picture of the product roadmap, strategy & vision. A Technical Programme Manager will collaborate with all affected teams to create a plan, manage technical risks, issues and dependencies, communicate with all partners and generally co-ordinate the technical aspects of a piece of work.

Benefits

We offer excellent benefits that help make Tesco a great place to work! These include but aren’t limited to:

  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Holiday starting at 20 days plus a personal day rising to 22 days after 12 months (plus 8 Bank holidays)
  • Retirement savings plan - save between 4% and 7.5% and Tesco will match your contribution
  • Life Assurance - 5 x contractual pay
  • Great colleague deals and discounts, saving you money on everyday purchases, eating out and utility bills for the home
  • Opportunities to get on - take advantage of our ongoing learning opportunities and award-winning training, to help you achieve the job and career you want
