EASL | about us

Experts in design, analysis and assessment.

Tell us about your passion and we will find the perfect placement role for you.

We are offering a one-year placement to assist in delivering our technical consultancy services. This is a great opportunity for university students to work alongside one of our specialised teams as part of a sandwich degree course.

At EASL you will have the opportunity to work in a wide variety of projects and to discover where your real passions lie. This is important so that when you do embark on your final year you will have a much better understanding of key topics and be better prepared to consolidate your career of choice. We have a longstanding relationship with best ranked universities for Mechanical Engineering courses and we are fully aware of what key skills you’ll need from your placement with us.

If you are a resilient, enthusiastic and highly motivated person who shares our passion for low carbon energy, EASL will be the right place for you to develop your engineering skills in 2020 and beyond.

The must haves

We are looking for dedicated, intelligent and hardworking engineers that are excited by our fields of expertise in structural integrity. Together we are all working towards a low carbon future. We want EASL to be your future, for you to be more than the average engineer.

You will be working towards your degree in Mechanical Engineering and have attained a 2.1 or above in your 1st or 2nd year (depending on whether you are completing a 3 or 4 year degree). Competency in MS Office and proficient in Excel.

Your attitude is going to be key. You will have to demonstrate to us that you are methodical and well organised, that you can take responsibility and be accountable for tasks and delivery deadlines. That you have the drive and commitment to contribute both technically and commercially to a range of tasks and be flexible, adaptable and keen to learn.

You are going to need to communicate within the team and clients so we want to see great verbal, reasoning and written skills that are accurate with spot on attention to detail.

We are a positive team, we need you to be reliable, upbeat, hardworking and friendly. This is a fantastic opportunity to really learn a lot in a ‘hands on’ position and have a great ‘employed’ experience. At the end of your placement we want you to leave us wanting to come back and learn more.

Every day is a learning experience, you will:

  • Assist our engineering consultants on stress analysis, fracture assessment and finite element analysis of the existing fleet of AGR nuclear power stations, the development of a new fleet of EPR nuclear power stations and research into the development of fusion energy.
  • Contribute to tasks that may take a few hours or up to a few months to complete.
