The Role – Technical Graduate - Space, Defence & Intelligence

Your future duties and responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing:
Empowerment through Innovation: From the very start you will play a key role in the development, testing, and delivery of technical solutions on our exciting SDI Projects.
Collaborate and Create: Work with a team of tech experts to solve real-world problems, using your STEM background to drive innovation.
Hands-On Impact: You’ll be working on cutting-edge technologies such as satellite navigation systems, cybersecurity solutions, and space exploration projects, contributing directly to mission-critical outcomes for government and global organisations.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking individuals who are ready to take ownership of their career and are passionate about making a difference through technology and business. Whatever your degree subject if you’re eager to learn, collaborate, and innovate, we want to hear from you.
Minimum 2:2 degree (some roles may require a 2:1 depending on the business unit) in computer science, engineering, physics, maths, or a related STEM field.
Passion for technology and innovation.
Flexibility to travel and work on projects across the UK.
Eligibility Criteria for SC Clearance
To be eligible, candidates must:
Have been continuously resident in the UK for at least 5 years prior to the application date.
Be a British citizen, Irish citizen, or hold dual nationality with a UK connection (other nationalities may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but additional checks will be required). Be able to provide a detailed employment and personal history for the past 5 years, including any periods of travel, study, or unemployment.
Pass criminal record checks (DBS) and credit/financial history checks (serious financial issues, such as large debts or bankruptcy, may impact eligibility).
Be prepared to complete a security vetting questionnaire and provide references.
Be willing to comply with UK government security policies on data protection, confidentiality, and integrity.
Additional Considerations
Candidates who have lived outside the UK for more than 6 months in total within the last 5 years may not be eligible.
Frequent or extended travel to certain high-risk countries may result in additional scrutiny.
Any history of serious criminal offences, financial instability, or foreign political affiliations could impact the vetting decision.
Technical Skills
As strong technical foundation with experience and/or knowledge of programming, problem-solving, data analysis or systems development would be beneficial for this role.

Systems & Tools:
Knowledge of or experience with any of the following:
Linux/Unix operating systems
Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Version Control Systems (e.g., Git)
Machine Learning/AI technologies
Software Development: Understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
Networking & Cybersecurity: Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and cybersecurity practices is a strong plus, especially in defence-related projects.
Database Knowledge: Skills in databases like SQL, NoSQL, or data analytics tools.

As CGI is a consultancy, you may be required to work in different locations, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are key.
