Where the STEM jobs are
"I’ve worked on one of the world’s best known brands, Horlicks, contributing to changing manufacturing processes"
What makes you, you?
I’m fluent in Mandarin and English - now I’m learning Japanese. The Asia Pacific culture really appeals and I’d love to work there one day.
What’s the best thing about working here?
I work with people from a brilliant mix of disciplines, inspirational leaders in their fields, and get exposure to cutting-edge science and technology.
What are your highlights?
The great thing about the technical development programme is that I get to rotate across different streams of manufacturing and different businesses. I’ve worked on one of the world’s best known brands, Horlicks, contributing to changing manufacturing processes. In Pharmaceuticals, working in materials science, I help sites across the world to improve their processes and resolve issues. It’s given me a detailed understanding of how the whole company works and the bigger picture behind our day-to-day jobs.
How have we supported your development?
Science and manufacturing have always fascinated me, but I didn’t know exactly what job I wanted to do. The graduate scheme has allowed me to experience different roles. My mentors have taken a real interest in me, offering technical development support and valuable career advice, but they also listen to my ideas and opinions. Structured development training has allowed me to develop my technical and leadership skills.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
It’s important to have a ‘can do’ attitude, accept change and always look to improve yourself.
