We are recruiting for multiple roles within this Placement. You will be able to select your preference when you apply and we will accommodate this where possible.

What you will do: 

An opportunity exists for candidates with a business background to work alongside a team to help deliver business improvement and communication projects. In addition to this, opportunities will arise to develop in coaching, Continuous Improvement, programme management and communication processes, which can be readily transferable to any other job. 

You will learn how to manage a project and work with a team effectively to deliver a successful outcome. The role ranges from learning about manufacturing to gaining knowledge surrounding the ‘people’ side of business and to supporting infrastructure projects and supporting business functions. 

You will be applying the skills you already have learnt at university and developing new skills such as team working, effective communication and time management. You will work with and learn from an experienced, multi-disciplined team. They will coach and mentor you during your year to help you achieve your potential.

Locations and roles: 

Barnard Castle  

The Barnard Castle site is located in the North East of England is sited within the County Durham countryside. Barnard Castle is a key site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatologicals.    

The successful candidate will integrate into the Business Improvement team and be expected to deliver a business, compliance or communications improvement project. In addition to this, opportunities will arise to support day to day operations and communications in a key manufacturing site, working in a safe and compliant manner. Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will build a great understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and business improvements to secure and sustain the site strategy for the future. 

Central Engineering & EHS, GSK House 

Based in our global headquarters in Brentford London, the Central Engineering team deliver value by providing expertise to optimise GSK’s manufacturing assets, capital portfolio and build capabilities that support the safe and effective operation of our facilities while protecting the safety and well-being of our people. 

You will have the opportunity to support our facilities management team and wider engineering community. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of business functions and infrastructure projects, addressing areas such as developing guidelines for complementary workers and associated training, building intranet sites and supporting sustainability projects. This role will provide access to a wide variety of functions and you will opportunity to connect with people at high levels in the organisation and have an exposure to external suppliers. 

This role will particularly suit an individual with strong written and verbal communication skills, with a need to drive for results and a concern for impact and an ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously when suitably trained. 

Degree Requirements:

  • Must be studying an undergraduate degree in Business or a related subject.  
  • You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You will be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year. 

You’ll need: 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Good Microsoft Excel and Word skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to interact with people at all levels in the organisation 
  • Ability to work on your own initiate to drive improvements and projects 
  • Use of Power BI software is preferred but not essential as training will be available 
  • Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned with GSK Values and Expectations. 

Benefits:  

  • A salary of £21,000-£22,500, plus a bonus
