Jamie Ross-Mackenzie

Software Engineering Department

My name is Jamie Ross-Mackenzie, I work for ASMPT in the Software engineering department. I have worked at ASMPT for 24 years and have had a great career progression. I started in May 1995 building the electrical looms and crates, then progressed through production wiring machines, building and fitting mechanical sub-assemblies to power up and configuration of the printers. During this time, I was offered an apprenticeship in electrical and mechanical engineering which helped me find my current passion in software. Once I had completed my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to progress my passion in software by working in the system test team. This gave me huge experience in the printer software which then lead to me securing a position in the software team in 2013. Since then I have worked on some amazing engineering solutions in the SMT and Alternative Energies sectors.

I love working at ASMPT because of the global progression and development I have experienced. During my time I have developed massively as a person working in different job positions and in many different countries around the world, learning from all the talented people who work for ASMPT.

As a Software Engineer at ASMPT I get to work with all engineering disciplines to produce the best engineering solutions giving me multi-discipline exposure. I feel I have complete ownership of the work I produce because we have an open and trusting working environment.

The best part of working as a software engineer at ASMPT is the instant work satisfaction of seeing the code you have been working on at your desk physically moving components on the printer in the machine test lab. This physical hardware interaction allows for a diverse software engineering experience that is hard to find.

Since working as a team leader at ASMPT I have had the pleasure of working with some very talented people and as a team we are open and dynamic, working on exciting projects to enhance our customer experience. I ensure I always provide support and guidance for the team and allow for personal challenges and career development.
