The Apprenticeship opportunity

Continuing our successful degree apprenticeship programme we are looking for an Apprentice to join our business from Summer 2023. You will combine working in the business, gaining practical skills, knowledge and experience, with day release at the University of the West of England, Bristol, for completion of a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with Manufactuing.  

During this apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to…

  • gain a good appreciation of the Company as a whole, and the operation of its main departments/ functions, by undertaking a
  • comprehensive range of work placements
  • complete a range of project work as directed by relevant business managers
  • complete relevant academic studies that will enhance your existing qualification portfolio
  • liaise with internal staff or external customers or suppliers for the purpose of carrying out duties associated with the trainees assigned tasks or projects
  • undertake tasks in other departments within ASMPT

About you:

  • minimum of grade C/4 or above in English Language and grade B/5 or above in Mathematics, or equivalent. . 
    on track to obtain a minimum of 2 A levels, one of which must be Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Computing/Computer Science; Design and Technology; Electronics; Engineering; ICT; Further Maths; Music Technology; Physics; Statistics. Points from A-level General Studies and AS-level subjects (not taken onto full A-level) can be included towards overall tariff.  Alternative qualification routes are via EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma/ Baccalaureate IB.  
  • willing to commit to a four year degree programme whilst also working in the business
  • a basic level of computer literacy; to include a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • a consistent track record of demonstrating success in both academic fields and extra-curricular activities.
  • ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • demonstrate an ability to work effectively as a team member, contributing to its overall success
  • demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude
