Balfour Beatty VINCI have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Plant Engineer to join the Major Structures Team on HS2 in Birmingham.

What you'll be doing

  • Under the supervision of the plant manager, elaborates the Method Statements and Risk Assessments related to his scope of work including Task Briefings and ensures they are disclosed to the personnel he is in charge
  • Reviews and approves the Subcontractors and Suppliers Method Statements and Risk Assessments produced for their work activities, including Task Briefings.
  • Supports the plant manager to ensure that all persons associated to his activities are briefed on the RAMS
  • Carries out periodic Safety & Environment tours as required by the project H&S Plan
  • Attends accident/incident investigations. Supports the plant manager to review and appraise findings and leads/directs the appropriate action arising (HFACS and Four Page Reports)
  • Monitors and ensures that the works are carried out in compliance with the expectations of the working sites and the Precast Yard.
  • Supports the plant manager, attending inspections and the delivery process of the equipment he is in charge at the premises of the suppliers.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the subject scope, overseeing logistics, plant activities, plant performance and maintenance as well as storekeeping ensuring that objectives are achieved in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Prepares and shares with operation and maintenance a 3 weeks look ahead programme on a weekly basis.

Who we're looking for

  • General engineer having interest in maintenance and mechanics
  • Experience in construction industry is welcome (stage, apprenticeship)

We are building the West Midlands section of HS2's Phase One route, spanning approximately 90km from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
