What you'll be doing:

The Electrical Power Engineer Industrial Placement role is providing an opportunity for an individual to learn and develop from within the Substation Control Systems (SCS) department, via on-the-job training, as part of business succession plans to grow internal capability and skill.

The individual will be fully supported while progressing through the lifecycle of live SCS design and configuration projects for electrical HV substations. 

The individual will learn how to perform all aspects of the SCS discipline, moving from a learning role into a support role as capability increases, with a target of becoming a fully accomplished SCS Engineer. 

This role will be based in Leeds but may require travelling.

Who we're looking for:

  • Currently on track to gain a minimum of 2:2 in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering (or similar course).
  • Expected to have an interest in Substation design.
  • Preferably familiar with coding tools.
  • Preferably familiar with writing system logic. 
  • Must have a strong desire to develop a career in Substations Control Systems.
  • Must work well under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ideally hold a UK driver’s licence at the time of joining
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK at the time of joining
