What you'll be doing:

Working within the Intelligent Transport Systems team. 

To provide an insight to the design and operation of Intelligent Transport Systems (Traffic signals and Vehicle guidance) within a city and the day to operations that occur, including look to the future with new designs and concepts.

The successful placement would be providing assistance across each of the three operations of the team, Operation and maintenance, New signal design and Traffic signal modelling. All of which support our customer and stakeholder teams to deliver transformational projects and modal shift agendas, while keeping the city of Southampton moving.

Role Responsibilities

  • IT literate, particularly with Excel
  • To be able to manage own workload and to be able to work in a team
  • To assist with ongoing projects the team are currently engaged with, alongside the ongoing maintenance/optimisation that is taking place
  • An end of placement project will be expected, so presentation skills would beneficial 
  • Manage own time and work to budget/timescales

This role will be based in Southampton.

Who we're looking for:

  • Completing/completed an Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering course
  • Eligibility to work and live in the UK at the time of joining 
  • Ideally hold a UK drivers' licence at the time of joining
