Border Surveillance

In support of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Linear Ground Detection System (LGDS) programme, Sintela is supplying and commissioning the ONYX™ System. ONYX™ was selected after a thorough evaluation process to provide gapless, persistent surveillance along the 1,900 miles extent of the southwest border between the United States and Mexico. Operationally ONYX™ is configured to detect the movement of people and vehicles crossing the border as well as identifying other prohibited activity.


International Oil & Gas Project

An international oil pipeline customer was faced with the problem of how to test leak detection performance of different fibre optic distributed acoustic sensing systems. We created a synthetic leak verification solution which operates in real time, requires no fibre intervention and was able to verify the performance of 3rd party fibre sensing leak detection capability. Additionally, we delivered the ability for the customer to train and verify the performance of its operations staff to respond to leak events.


National Oil Company

A national oil company wanted to deliver sensing as a service through a single control centre. Sintela was tasked to deliver a control system that gave a single view of the customers own pipelines and the pipelines they were monitoring for other people. Sintela created a new set of software that enabled the customer to visualise all pipeline systems centrally and through a common alarming and management toolkit. We also enabled operational data to be delivered directly to management desks, reducing the need for separate control systems and overhead. 


Global Rail Industry Operator

The customer had explored the application of distributed acoustic fibre sensing for the rail industry using several manufacturers' products. The issues the client had were that the existing DAS products we too expensive, complex and significantly did not have the right level of technical performance needed for rail industry applications. Sintela worked with the client to create a bespoke rail distributed fibre sensing solution (R-DfS) covering multiple measurements.
