As a Graduate Risk and Safety Intelligence Analyst, you’ll work with the Risk and Safety Intelligence team, who manage, analyse and report on safety and risk data and allow the GB rail industry to make robust decisions that are rational equitable and defensible. You will also have the opportunity to engage with people from across the railway to facilitate industry collaboration and consensus.

Please note: this graduate programme will involve travel in relation to rotational placements and training opportunities.

What you’ll be doing:

Working with other members of the team on projects from start to finish, you will:

  • Develop knowledge of the industry’s Safety Management Intelligence System (SMIS) and help to ensure the quality of the data within it.
  • Analyse health and safety information, for example by monitoring safety performance and undertaking exploratory investigations
  • Provide intelligence and tools to RSSB member companies to help them better understand their health and safety risks, for example in the form of published reports or presentations to cross-industry risk groups.
  • Engage with people from across the railway to understand their wants and needs and inform the decisions that they make.
  • Support industry safety assurance activities including identifying hazards, assessing safety risk, and running workshops.
  • Actively undertake and commit to professional development activities through professional institutions e.g. SaRS.

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of a 2:2 in engineering, science, mathematics or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A willingness to learn about risk and safety analysis, risk assessment and railway systems.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office 365.
