What are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join us in Yeovil as a Test engineer (Automation and Data Acquisition) within Mechanical Test contributing to our unique test facilities. The successful individual will be part of a team that design and create bespoke test solutions for the development and test of engineering components and systems.

Responsibility will be across Life Support Systems, Environmental Control Systems and Hydraulic product lines at both component and aircraft system level.

The successful candidate will get hands on experience with test facilities such as performance rigs, high altitude test chambers, acceleration centrifuge, high flow, high/low temperature test cells and more.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering varied work within an exciting engineering department.

Responsibilities

  • Owning and executing assigned tasks to meet budget and schedule
  • Helping ensure test facilities meet HS&E requirements
  • Identifying opportunities and helping plan facility upgrade projects (Capital Investment)
  • Ensuring commonality between test facilities
  • Managing personal workload
  • Work with senior members to create and execute personal training plan
  • Assistance with the preparation of estimates for aerospace test programmes
  • Attendance of test programme reviews with instrumentation content
  • Adherence to the safe systems of work
  • Operation in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Ownership of calibration activities and scheduling

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Minimum of a degree in a electronic engineering discipline OR equivalent experience
  • Technical background in instrumentation or related field essential
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design essential
  • Working knowledge of PLC's (Siemens S7-1200 desirable) and process controllers
  • Experience with design and implementation of HMIs
  • Proficient with LabVIEW programming
  • Knowledge of wiring regulations an advantage
