JOB DESCRIPTION

Rail-Ability established in 1998, has become the industry leader in the design, development and manufacturer of bespoke road rail plant machinery. Our award-wining products are renowned for their inbuilt quality, safety and performance by a world-wide customer base. As a talented continuous improvement professional you will be at the heart of developing, improving and rolling out quality, business management and manufacturing systems. 

Your business as usual will be doing one or all of these:

  • Taking a leading role in the development of our ISO9001 quality management system through the generation and management of business and production processes, risk assessing processes using PFMEA principles to ensure quality products and services are consistently delivered. 
  • Oversee and monitor the resolution of internal quality issues, conducting internal audits, liaising with stakeholders to overcome short term affects and implement timely long term corrective actions.
  • Analyse business operations by applying the lean 8 waste principles, identifying opportunities for improvement, presenting cost benefit analysis. Use DMAIC principles and change management techniques to deliver a programme of Kaizen events. Taking an “on the ground” approach to rolling out sustainable change. 
  • Support operational excellence across the business, developing and working to achieve strategic KPI’s in Safety, Quality and Value. 
  • Applying change management tools to further develop a safe working culture, actively assisting in roll out good practice methodology. 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree (or working towards) Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
  • A good understanding of Lean Six Sigma and Agile business philosophies and the application of their tools
  • A good understanding of quality assurance and quality management principles
  • Experience working to and or with the ISO 9000 standard series (advantageous) 
  • Experience with writing processes in accordance with BS4058:1987 (advantageous)
  • Can self-manage priorities to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Has a considered and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Has a good understanding of Lean Six Sigma and Agile business philosophies and quality assurance and quality management principles
