Job Description 

Do you want to be part of an exciting and dynamic year-long placement within the R&D team? 

Do you want the responsibility to manage your own project whilst also working as part of a fast-paced team? 

This full-year placement will be spent in the lifecycle of novel product design encompassing a broad range of tools & technologies underpinned by subject matter expert mentors. There will be strong interaction with numerous different departments within the business.

What you can expect: 

  • Opportunities to Develop CAD/FEA skills alongside practical metrology principles 
  • Work on concepts and drive them towards prototypes for testing and evaluation under the mentorship of a senior or principal engineer
  • Communicate effectively through a range of methods to ensure all stakeholders can make informed decisions and see the influences these choices have on the next stage of a project.
  • Experience design reviews with key stakeholders both technically and in the context of both customer needs and the commercial requirements.

Key requirements: 

  • BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with an expected 2:1 classification as a minimum in your second year 

Desirable requirements: 

  • A can-do, open-minded approach to problem solving
  • CAD knowledge (SolidWorks preferable)
  • Numerical analysis skills, using hand calcs through to simple FEA/CFD computation
  • Strong communicator through various mediums
