The facility has a combined capacity of 3,000 gearbox overhauls per annum.
With combined investment of over £2m, LUR Gearbox overhaul consists of a purpose-built facility with highly trained engineers and four production lines, incorporating a bespoke training area, component wash machine, parts press, three gearbox testing stations and a Coordinated Measuring machine for gearbox components (also used for wheels and axles).
Customers include Siemens, Alstom, Hitachi, Train Operators and Freightliner, representing a diverse range of both EMU and DMU gearbox overhauls.
In addition to overhaul, LUR is proactive in supporting Condition Monitoring and has actively helped support high mileages between gearbox overhauls on a number of fleets.
