Working With Us

We are a global leader in the life sciences sector, serving customers in healthcare, applied markets (including food, agbio and the environment), academia and government. Underpinned by our five core values – integrity, brilliance, passion, curiosity, respect – our core purpose is to deliver science for a safer world.

We are actively looking for individuals that are passionate about making a difference. In return, we think it is important to look after our people.

"The scheme at LGC has allowed me to gain knowledge in an area of my interest, intellectual property. I have been impressed with the variety of opportunities to lead projects and this is helping me to grow into a confident research manager in intellectual property." Jesse Mpolesha - Graduate Trainee in Intellectual Property & Commercial

We believe it is important that we recognise the efforts and loyalty of our employees across the organisation.

Look at what we have to offer:

How you’ll grow

Whether you join us as an intern or for your first job, we offer a range of opportunities to help you develop and grow.

Thanks to our talent and performance management programmes, with support from your line manager we will help you to reach your maximum potential.

We are pleased to offer our employees the chance to collaborate across the breadth of the business, with potential to travel to other locations and countries as well as the chance to represent the business at conferences, customer forums and sector skills councils.

Additionally, there are secondment opportunities, where on-the-job training will utilise your current skills and provide opportunities to enrich them whilst growing your understanding of the business.

"This scheme at LGC has been particularly helpful in providing many opportunities to develop my skill-set, coupled with the freedom to explore my different interests. I see myself growing every day as I lead and manage projects, whilst also learning from senior colleagues with vast experience." Christine Amedor - Graduate Trainee in Research Management

Employee wellbeing

A comfortable work/life balance helps to create a productive and loyal workforce, supported by a comprehensive benefits package. As an equal opportunities employer, we value equality and diversity within our organisation. We believe it is important that we recognise the efforts and loyalty of our employees across the organisation, which is why our internal reward and recognition scheme ensures that our colleagues’ hard work and significant work milestones don’t go unnoticed.

Be yourself

Our science makes the world safer and our people make it happen. It is in the combination and richness of our individuals' values and strengths that remarkable achievements emerge. That’s why building an inclusive work environment is so important to us. We are united by our core purpose and values and everyone at LGC is proud of what we achieve every day.

We want LGC to be a place where there is openness and respect regardless of your background, identity and circumstance. A place where you feel welcome to be yourself and to realise your potential, where your contribution to achieving our core purpose of making the world safer for all, absolutely matters. And it’s on strong foundations that we continue to build our commitment to an inclusive culture. Together we are on a journey.

Professional memberships and innovation

Our organisation holds a number of relevant memberships to leading international scientific committees and societies, where some of our employees hold leading roles.

Innovation plays a big part in our organisation and our innovation groups work to identify and explore solutions to current challenges and opportunities involving science, technology and business enterprise.

"I have really enjoyed the freedom of the scheme at LGC. Having the opportunity to lead and manage projects so early in my career has been great for my development, providing me with CV-boosting experience." James Lee - Graduate Trainee in Research Management

Get involved

Our employees have the opportunity to get involved in both internal and external activities. We encourage colleagues to become science ambassadors, helping to inspire young people into a career in science, wherever they are.

Each year we support a different corporate charity, chosen by our employees. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and participate in fund-raising activities at each of our sites. We also have a number of sports and social clubs across the organisation, as well as a number of subsidised social events throughout the year.
