In STEMS, we strive to provide helpful career making networking events and contacts for your courses, guest speakers for your interests and fantastic socials for your downtime. We organise and participate in many events throughout the year such as Frank Morton Sports Day, Formula Students F1 Racing Events and many more!

STEMS is a great way to meet people in different years and is a helping hand throughout your time at Chester, with many memorable nights out.

So if your course is based at Thornton then come and JOIN US!

"The unique quality of STEMs is our position. Thornton Science Park has the convenience of having both local industry and students all on one campus!" Michael Donnelly, President of STEMs.

JCB Dieselmax Project - The World's Fastest Diesel engine

Background

The land speed record was broken in the summer of 2006 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The 2.7 tonne vehicle was propelled to a speed of 350 mph by twin rail injection diesel engines, producing 750bhp each. The record still stands, years on. The talk will be delivered by JCB's Product Engineering Manager, David Hoyle.

Networking

Do not underestimate the power of networking, do your research, talk to people who work in your sector of interest. Many of the local institutions and companies will have representatives in attendance, get talking to your future boss today.

Additional Details

  • The event is completely free, no DoC needed
  • Free tea, coffee and biscuits
  • Keep an eye out for a list of confirmed attendees and do your research as this is the best way to get a placement and maybe more.
