Bath Student Women's Engineering Society (WESBath)

The University of Bath's Student Women in Engineering Society has been formed to support and empower current students within the Faculty of Engineering & Design, as well as to help encourage more young women to choose engineering at university and as a career. We are affiliated to the Women's Engineering Society (WES), a national organisation working to inspire women in engineering and allied sciences for 95 years; promoting careers in engineering; supporting companies with gender diversity; and speaking as the collective voice of women engineers.

Aims

Our aims

  • Inform current and potential female students of available funding opportunities.
  • Increase awareness of engineering as a career by arranging events with professionals from different sectors.
  • Strengthen links with female alumni and engineering companies.
  • Promote careers in engineering to younger students in the local area by sharing knowledge and organising events.

Social Media Aims

  • To increase our presence on Social Media by introducing two series of posts:
    • WESBathWednesday where we tweet something related to women in engineering every Wednesday.
    • TuesdayTips! Where we post a tip on Instagram and Facebook every Tuesday.
  • We are working on a video compilation encapsulating diversity of engineers on campus through snippets of their lives outside uni (break stereotypes in favour of work hard, play hard!)
