Ifor Williams Trailers (IWT) is the UK’s leading trailer manufacturer. Founded in 1958 and based in Cynwyd, North Wales, IWT operates five advanced manufacturing sites and employs over 600 people.
We are launching our new Graduate Commercial Programme for Summer 2026 - a Director and Senior Manager-led, two-year accelerated career programme designed for exceptional graduates ready to build a long-term career in manufacturing, commercial leadership and supply chain.
The Programme
This is not an internship. It is a structured pathway into the commercial heart of a thriving, family-owned medium enterprise. Over two years you will complete two 12-month rotations across:
Rotation A - Distributor Management & Business Development
Rotation B - Procurement & Supply Chain
Running in parallel throughout, you will work on strategic projects personally overseen by IWT Directors and Senior Managers - from operational improvement and new product launches to international market analysis and digital transformation.
Entry Requirements
First Class or 2:1 degree from a Russell Group or equivalent leading university.
Minimum 3 A-Levels at ABB or equivalent (A* and A grades strongly preferred).
Minimum 8 GCSEs including English and Mathematics (A* and A grades strongly preferred).
Demonstrable drive, ambition and resilience — genuine work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond and lead.
Genuine commitment to building a long-term career in North Wales — this is not a short-term stepping stone.
A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are preferable but not essential.
What You Will Gain
Direct, daily access to the Directors and Senior Management Team who run the business.
Real commercial responsibility from week one - managing Supplier and Distributor relationships, leading negotiations and contributing to strategic decisions.
Breadth of exposure typically requiring five to seven years in a large corporate.
Fast-track to a middle-management role within the business.
National, European and international travel.
Why IWT
IWT operates with the corporate-grade processes you would expect in a leading listed company - formal commercial frameworks, competitive tendering, structured performance management - but with the speed, dynamism and reduced bureaucracy of a family-owned manufacturer. You will be working for a business with genuine heritage and purpose: deeply embedded in our communities since 1958, sponsors of Wrexham AFC, launching customer-led developments such as the Tow-Max range for the EV era.
Career Progression
Year 1: Commercial Graduate (Rotation A)
Year 2: Commercial Graduate (Rotation B)
Year 3+: Commercial Executive or Buyer
Year 4–5: Commercial Manager or Senior Buyer
IWT has a strong track record for developing talent and promoting internal candidates.
