Inderjit's next significant move was to GKN, where he worked in their Research and Development Centre. Here, he honed his skills in advanced materials, contributing to innovative projects and expanding his expertise. An opportunity to join a commercial team as a technical expert took Inderjit to Germany. Initially focused on materials, he gradually transitioned into a purchasing expert role. Inderjit next joined the Cable Management Group (Adaptaflex, Kopex, Elkay and Harnessflex), part of Smiths Industries plc, in a supply chain and purchasing role. His responsibilities quickly expanded to cover the Flex-Tek European Division, overseeing 11 sites. Here, Inderjit applied his engineering understanding to optimize supply chain processes, focusing on cost reduction through process improvements and logistics enhancements.
Inderjit's career took another turn as he moved into manufacturing and operations at Coleshill. Over the years, he held various positions covering quality, technical, and commercial roles. He points out that many chief executives only last a few years in their roles, so there's no need to feel obligated to stay in one position.
