Henrik

Wind Turbine Technician Apprentice

Henrik chose to pursue an apprenticeship as a Wind Turbine on Helgoland. In this interview, he shares what excites him about the combination of technology and adventure, and offers tips for future apprentices.

Why did you decide to do your apprenticeship on Helgoland?

The combination of action and variety immediately convinced me. I wanted a job that is exciting and versatile, and that’s exactly what I found here.

Did you bring anything from home that is important to you?

Yes, a book that supports me during challenging times. It gives me strength and reminds me that I can overcome any challenge.

How often do you see your family and friends?

In theory, I could go home every weekend. In practice, I only do so about once a month because the travel time is quite long.

What do you like most about your apprenticeship so far?

Definitely the hands-on learning. Right now, we’re soldering a small Eiffel Tower – it’s not only educational but also a lot of fun.

What advice would you give to future applicants?

Patience is key. Offshore assignments come later, but the world of electronics you get to explore here is incredibly exciting.
