Graduate Electrical Engineer

Main purpose of job:

Ethical Power Connections are looking for two engineers to Design new and existing projects, the successful candidate will be working on electrical projects on behalf of the Company and will involve projects ranging from LV through to 400kV.

Ethical Power Connections is an Independent Connection Provider and High Voltage Infrastructure Specialist, we are primarily involved in the construction of energy generation assets such as large scale solar, gas generation, battery storage and wind farm projects on behalf of our clients.

The company will provide all required support, familiarisation and on the job, training as required to allow you to fulfil all the competencies described below.

It will involve working as part of a team to Review Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Contestable Connection Offers and compiling contestable designs for grid connections ranging from LV up to and including 400kV. You will also be required to assist in the conceptual design of various types of energy projects, principally Solar Farms, Battery Storage and Gas Peak Power generation facilities. You will be required to adhere to all safety regulations, quality standards and project specifications. The role reports directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer.

Delivery:

• The technical review of projects and DNO grid connection offers
• The design and Conceptual design of both the grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kV
• Tendering of Grid Connection and Private Network Infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kv
• Main Connection and protection single line diagram design
• Cable route designs
• Switchgear selection and specification
• Transformer selection and specification
• CT and VT sizing studies
• Battery Charger sizing studies
• Multicore schedule, Multicore termination schedules
• Cable sizing studies
• Small Power and Lighting Design
• Substation layout design
• Power System Studies
• The management of the design of projects on both the grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kV
• Managing Design Sub-Contractors
• Working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures to ensure satisfactory delivery of work
• Maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure delivery to high standards
• Attend training as required to maintain knowledge and application of systems and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential 

• A Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

Desirable 

• 2:1, MEng.

Skills and Competences

Essential 

• Relevant Industry Experience either via short term placement or full-time work.

Desirable 

• Autocad experience
• Numerate and good IT skills
• Full Driving Licence
• Google Earth experience
• Power system modelling software PSSE, Digsilent, IPSA, CDEGS.

Previous experience 

Desirable 

• Previous experience as an electrical engineer.
