About this role

This role sits within our C&I Performance and Resilience team which is part of our Sustainable Transition (Delivery) Service. We work with market leaders to develop innovative global carbon reduction strategies. Our clients are industrial manufacturers and our C&I Performance and Resilience service acts on clients’ strategic sustainability aspirations, breaking them down into implementable carbon/energy/adaptation action plans and projects. 

As a Junior Consultant, you’ll be involved in turning their aims into a reality through site audits, monitoring and proposing data solutions to optimise Energy & Utilities efficiency.

As part of our C&I Performance and Resilience team, you contribute to projects that cover two key streams:

  • Energy and utilities management including auditing, utilising our proprietary software platform MyVerco, and implementing metering solutions
  • Decarbonisation roadmap modelling, feasibility studies and capital projects planning and delivery

The role represents the entry point within BIP.Verco’s career structure and the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the capabilities required to perform a full consultancy role within the business. Although this role is designated to one team, there will be opportunities to work across the company on a range of projects and different clients. 

How you contribute

Project Management: To deliver required project inputs according to time, quality and budget. In time, you will take responsibility for project work streams and small-scale consulting projects. 

Technical input:  Provide technical input to projects and contribute to

  • the delivery of energy and water consumption reduction audits at a wide range of sites
  • to development of metering and data collection solutions supported by MyVerco Software
  • the provision of high-quality insightful data analysis

Business development/proposal writing: Assist proposal creation through the collation of required information and to provide support to proposal teams to achieve company sales targets.

Client management: Maintain strong relationships with existing clients through professional interactions. 

Operational: Provide timely responses to operational needs including (but not limited to) invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheeting, health & safety, etc.

Environmental: Contribute to BIP.Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR objectives when required.

Education, qualifications & training

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering

Desirable:

  • Master’s or relevant post-graduate qualification

Skills/Competencies

Essential:

  • Proactive and inquisitive approach
  • Strong and sophisticated analytical approach
  • Strong communicator (verbal & written) 
  • Ability to work independently & creatively on challenging problems
  • High level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
  • Project planning
  • Macro-economic and/or financial modelling

Employment experience

Desirable:

  • Project Management
  • Energy Management, process improvement or optimisation

Knowledge & understanding

Essential:

  • Energy use in industry and/or industrial processes, buildings, sustainable energy generation technologies 

Desirable: Knowledge of:

  • Key UK and international sustainability policies
  • Knowledge of wider sustainability issues & carbon management
  • Metering, Monitoring & Targeting
  • Electrical infrastructure & systems
  • Process Optimisation  
  • Heat Recovery Systems  
  • Renewable energy  

Other requirements & attributes

Essential:

  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally to implement projects
  • Able to present a professional appearance to clients and partners

Desirable:

  • Clean UK driving licence
  • Languages (Spanish, Italian or French)
