What will you be doing?

As a Software Powertrain engineer, you will join Coventry team to support our activities within the Automotive sector. 

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Develop and implement rigorous validation activities within the “Inverter Verification and Validation” chapter.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of test methods to enhance reliability and align with brand standards.
  • Maintain the chapter’s “core body of knowledge” by integrating lessons learned from delivery projects.
  • Allocate chapter members to delivery projects for the execution of test phases using developed tools and processes.
  • Foster continuous improvement in project quality and efficiency through knowledge sharing and feedback mechanisms.
  • Facilitate personal growth and skill development opportunities for team members.
  • Actively support the exploration and development of cutting-edge methods in the field.
  • Identify and embrace additional responsibilities as the team expands

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., electronics, electrical, mechatronics) or a related field is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of expertise in automotive powertrain, specialising in the design and validation of test techniques.
  • Proficient in operating DSpace Control Desk hardware and possessing hands-on experience with its functionalities.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools, including Python and Automation Desk.
  • Proven experience in the end-to-end delivery of powertrain component/system testing, ensuring alignment with specified requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to test definition within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Competent in generating and maintaining Design Verification Plans (DVP) and preparing comprehensive test reports for project milestones.
  • Availability to work at JLR Whitley (Coventry) with occasional support at Gaydon.
  • Expertise in various levels of testing, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), System-HiL, and full powertrain system testing.
  • Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA and Vector CANalyzer (at least one of them).
  • Comprehensive understanding of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) architectures.
