Events

Refreshers' Fair

We launched our society at the refreshers' fair in January 2024, where we had the opportunity to meet bright and ambitious STEM students, chat about our society’s mission and inspire future generations of leaders. At the heart of our discussions was the importance of cultivating strong leadership skills to drive a positive change in everyone’s professional journey.

Inaugural Event

Our society’s inaugural event titled “Leadership Blueprint Masterclass”, was held on February 23, 2024. We had 3 distinguished speakers who discussed fundamental leadership skills and the recruitment landscape.

  1. Dr. Nikola Chmel – Associate Professor at the University of Warwick gave an interactive session on leadership styles and decision-making frameworks.
  2. Thameena Rahim – Head of People at Consult Energy provided exclusive insights on effective recruitment strategies and personal development.
  3. Martin Coffey – Career Management Skills Developer/Chartered Occupational Psychologist at the University of Leicester discussed practical strategies for building resilience and asserting yourself in the professional landscape.

International Women’s Day

On March 7th, we got together for an event led by the College of Life Sciences student-staff group and Leicester Mamas to celebrate International Women's Day. We organised a fundraising stall selling snacks, samosas, cakes, tea & coffee to raise money for Women’s Aid Leicestershire.

In the future, we also plan to host game nights, panel talks, career and further education webinars and insight days.
