Design Engineer graduate in Electronic Engineering

Tell us why you love working at Slipstream Design?

One of the great things about working at Slipstream Design are the people. I love working with like-minded individuals from a variety of engineering backgrounds and specialisms and being able to bounce concepts and design ideas off one another. This makes for an extraordinarily collaborative and supportive working environment which helps to bring out some fantastic ideas.

If you had 5 minutes to sell a graduate job at Slipstream Design to someone what would you say?

Slipstream Design is a small team of engineers that work on a variety of electronic designs spanning across RF and Digital domains. The team are knowledgeable, supportive and from a diverse range of engineering specialities. There is always someone who can help with a problem you might have. The company culture is progressive - aiming to solve problems innovatively and try new things to achieve our goals.

What's great about the technology you get to work with?

Some of the projects I work on are at the cutting edge of technology. This allows for the development of incredibly complex systems which is both challenging and rewarding. It could be a novel antenna design which makes use of Finite Element Analysis tools and unconventional manufacturing methods. Or perhaps the design of a beamforming algorithm for integration onto a high performance Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). There is never a dull moment when working at the forefront of technology.

What makes you proud to work at Slipstream Design?

The best thing about working at Slipstream is seeing the results of my work in the hands of the customer. Receiving updates and feedback on the integration of the product and its performance in their system makes me extremely proud to be part of the team that helped deliver the product.

What have you learned since joining Slipstream Design? Any specific training you've received?

I have worked in a variety of several projects at Slipstream Design and I have gained extensive insight into the engineering design process and the intricacies of releasing electronic and mechanical designs for manufacture. One of the formal training courses I have attended is the IPC-610 Electronics Assembly Inspection course which has helped me support the team in the bring up of PCBAs as they arrive at Slipstream Design.
