As a Trainee Patent Attorney, you will use your scientific expertise to solve complex problems and shape the future of innovation. You will advise inventors and businesses on how best to protect new technologies, draft and prosecute patent applications in the UK and internationally, and help clients develop strategies to safeguard and commercialise their intellectual property. This is a career that allows you to stay close to science and technology while developing new skills in law and business, where no two days are the same.
Our structured training programme combines hands-on experience with formal study, preparing you to qualify as both a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. From the beginning, you will work closely with clients under the guidance of expert mentors, gaining direct experience and insight into a wide range of sectors.
Progression is an integral part of your journey. As your knowledge and confidence grow, so too will your responsibilities, with opportunities to take ownership of cases, advise clients independently, and develop specialist expertise in areas that align with your interests.
