Applications Engineer

Manufacturing, Mechanical, Product Design.

Overview

As TriMech Group continues to support and enable engineering and manufacturing businesses across the UK and Ireland, our Applications Engineers play a key role in helping customers get the most from their SOLIDWORKS and wider Dassault Systèmes solutions.

This is a highly varied technical role, combining customer support, consultancy, training, demonstrations and ongoing product development. The successful candidate will use their engineering and design knowledge to help customers solve real-world technical challenges, improve workflows and confidently adopt best-practice use of their software.

Working as part of a highly skilled technical team, the Applications Engineer will have the opportunity to develop advanced product knowledge, gain exposure to a wide range of industries, and build their expertise across SOLIDWORKS and related technologies. This role would suit someone with strong CAD knowledge, a customer-focused mindset and a genuine interest in helping engineering teams work smarter and more effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to customers, helping to resolve SOLIDWORKS, CAD and engineering-related queries
  • Delivering high-quality training to new and experienced SOLIDWORKS users
  • Supporting customers with software implementation, deployment and best-practice adoption
  • Working with customers across a wide range of industries to understand their engineering challenges and recommend effective solutions
  • Delivering technical demonstrations and supporting pre-sales activity where required
  • Assisting with consultancy projects, including on-site or remote customer engagements
  • Continually developing technical knowledge across SOLIDWORKS and associated Dassault Systèmes products
  • Supporting internal teams with technical knowledge, product insight and customer feedback
  • Contributing to the development of training content, support resources and knowledge-sharing materials
  • Representing TriMech in a professional, knowledgeable and customer-focused manner

The role is initially expected to require approximately 25% of the manager’s time, with the potential to evolve as the product function grows.

All applicants are asked to prepare a 15‑minute presentation outlining how they would build on the success of the DELMIA product range.

Experience and Skills

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer or designer with strong CAD experience and a genuine interest in technical problem-solving. Previous SOLIDWORKS experience would be highly beneficial, although full product training and ongoing technical development will be provided.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree, qualification or equivalent experience in engineering, product design, manufacturing or a related discipline
  • Strong CAD skills and an understanding of engineering design principles
  • The ability to investigate technical issues and clearly communicate solutions
  • A confident, professional and customer-focused approach
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to continue developing advanced product knowledge
  • The ability to work across multiple industries, customers and technical scenarios
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider technical and commercial team

Development Opportunity

This role offers significant opportunity for technical growth and progression. Applications Engineers are encouraged to continuously develop their product knowledge, gain certifications and build specialist expertise across the SOLIDWORKS and Dassault Systèmes portfolio.

Application Process

Applicants are asked to submit their interest along with an up-to-date CV.

As part of the selection process, applicants may be asked to prepare a short presentation demonstrating how they would approach supporting a customer with a technical CAD or engineering challenge.
